"Introducing the Renault Boreal, a brand-new, stylish SUV designed with a global audience in mind. Renault isn't just going local with this one.  This SUV is a part of the company's extensive "International Game Plan" and will be sold in more than 70 countries starting in late 2025.

From daring design language to clever tech and a roomy, upscale cabin, Boreal seems ready to compete with SUV global naturally aspirated favorites—and could even possibly win over U.S. fans if it makes it there.

A Global SUV with Local Flavor

While many SUVs may be built to satisfy just one market, the Renault Boreal is made globally but built locally. Renault plans to set up manufacturing hubs in Brazil (specifically Curitiba) to serve Latin American markets, and in Turkey (Bursa) for its customers in Europe and the Middle East. That means the various regions will benefit from lower costs, improved availability and speedier deliveries.

Why it matters:

  • Targets growing markets such as Latin America, Middle East, India
  • Is developed from Renault-Nissans flexible CMF-B platform
  • Production closer to consumers creates easier access for better pricing and service

For consumers in emerging markets, or even in North America down the line, this is a lot of practicality in a package with shorter lead times, and with a more reasonable price tag.

Head-Turning Design with Premium Details

The Boreal has a bold stance that is hard to miss. Imagine sleek LED headlights featuring the Niagara concept, a wide grille with illuminated diamond accents, and a sharp back end that has road presence. It is longer and wider than the Duster, so it has a large footprint.

Design highlights include:

  • Length: 4.56 meters, longer than many mid-size SUVs
  • Dual-tone roof with a sporty rear spoiler
  • 19-inch alloy wheels and expressive body cladding
  • Chrome accents, modern lighting design, and upscale vibe

If you are someone wanting your SUV to look as good as it drives—this one has curb appeal, for sure.

A Cabin Designed for Comfort and Tech Entrants

Inside, the Boreal is more than a pretty shell. Renault really went above and beyond in terms of the comfort, tech, and feel of the cabin. There are dual 10-inch displays, soft-touch materials, and a seriously premium Harman Kardon sound system, with an option for an electronically tuned version by music legend Jean-Michel Jarre.

What's inside:

  • Digital cockpit + infotainment with Google built-in
  • Wiresless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, OTA updates
  • Dual zone climate control, ambient lighting (48 color options)
  • Heated front seats, wireless charging pads, USB-C ports

It is clearly catered towards modern families and city drivers that value function and flair.

Loaded with ADAS and Safety Tech

Safety is not on the sidelines. The Boreal comes loaded with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to keep the driver in control and alert when at the wheel during long drives or in heavy traffic.

Note-worthy Safety Features:

  • Adaptive cruise control with lane centering
  • Blind-spot warning and 360 camera system
  • Emergency braking and hands-free parking assist
  • Designed to put your mind at ease whether you are commuting or on a road trip

If you are driving with the family or just looking for a more intelligent drive, these are great features.

Behind the Scene: Turbocharged and Ready

Don't be deceived by the stylish appearance—this SUV can pack a punch. The Boreal features a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine co-developed with Mercedes-Benz, so it is powerful yet smooth and responsive, without being overwhelming.

Powertrain specification:

  • Up to163hp (in flex-fuel versions)
  • 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission
  • 270 Nm of torque for quick acceleration around the city
  • Drive modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, and MySense

Whether you are in the city, or the suburbs, or travelling through the countryside, the Boreal feels versatile and sure-footed behind the wheel.
