The nominees for the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards have been officially released, showcasing some of the best in daytime television in drama, lifestyle, instructional and culinary programming.
The overall top contenders for the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series award are still indelibly etched in the collective psyche of daytime drama viewers. This includes the majorly popular General Hospital (ABC), The Young and the Restless (CBS) and Days of Our Lives (Peacock). Depending on storylines and viewership, it is clear the rankings that have ranked these series as industry leaders.
Actors from all three shows are well represented in the major performance categories. In the Outstanding Lead Actor category, the nominees include:
-

-
Eric Martsolf (Days of Our Lives)
-
Greg Rikaart (Days of Our Lives)
-

For Outstanding Lead Actress, the nominations are dominated by performers from The Young and the Restless and General Hospital:
-
Sharon Case
-
Eileen Davidson
-
Melissa Claire Egan
-
Michelle Stafford (all from The Young and the Restless)

It's worth noting that while Days of Our Lives had a few male actors nominated, they did not have any leads in the female lead category and some fans were talking about that online.
Typically, the ceremony is held in the spring, but the 2025 ceremony is planned for October. This is part of a broader schedule adjustment from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). It will be televised on CBS, continuing their long history of coverage.
More categories for nominations - talk shows, travel, children’s programming, etc (all listed under the Daytime Emmy umbrella) - will likely be announced later today.
While soap operas often capture the most headlines at the Daytime Emmys, the nominations for this year's ceremony also reflect an array of non-scripted content. With so many lifestyle shows, food shows, and how-to shows gaining traction on both broadcast and streaming.

-
Delicious Miss Brown (Food Network)
-
Emeril Cooks (Roku)
-
Lidia’s Kitchen (PBS)

Lifestyle content is also getting the spotlight this year. The Outstanding Lifestyle Program category features a mix of traditional television and streaming titles, such as:
-

-
George to the Rescue (NBC)
-

-
Hack Your Health: Secrets of Your Gut (Netflix)

In the Instructional/How-To category, shows about home improvement and DIY have also made the list of nominees. Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse, Married to Real Estate (HGTV), and Martha Gardens (Roku) are among those included.
Streaming services such as Netflix, Roku, and Amazon Prime Video are becoming more present in the daytime categories which is indicative of how daytime TV continues to evolve beyond the cable footprint.
With the full slate of nominees still being released, viewers can expect to see a wide array of entertainment at this year's Daytime Emmys. Whether it is soap operas, cooking shows, or renovation shows, the nominations certainly reflect the landscape of the contemporary daytime television.
