WNBA superstar Angel Reese surprised fans and fashion observers when she became the first-ever professional athlete to walk the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2025, representing a groundbreaking move from the court to the catwalk and showcasing Reese’s ever-increasing status as a new global ambassador in sport and style.

On this runway in New York City, Reese donned two beautiful pink lingerie looks, a floral lingerie set and fuzzy boa for the first, and a trendy cut-out baby tee over delicate pink lacy lingerie for the second; both looks were complemented by the most stunning white feathered angel wings Reese wore, marking the moment she could officially call herself a Victoria's Secret ANGEL for the first time.

Reese before her debut in the Fashion Show, noted the impact of iconic supermodels like Tyra Banks, and Naomi Campbell on the way that she walked down the runway; she evaluated their walks and staking dances and crafted her own interpretation, which included some bounce in her step and subtle “smize” (smiling with eyes) that made her walk feel so genuine and captivating.

Why Angel Reese’s Runway Moment Is So Important

Angel Reese’s attendance at the show is a first for professional athletes, specifically in the sport of basketball, where athleticism and fashion intertwine in what she calls a “new frontier.” Reese, who is officially the first professional athlete to walk the runway at this event, stated that this accomplishment is not only a personal one for her, but also a huge step for the Black representation landscape in fashion. Reese reiterated that representation matters, and that could inspire someone to pursue their first or 100th dream, even if it is a dream that seems unlikely to be achieved.

Her record-setting walk comes during a banner year of personal accomplishments, including being the fastest WNBA player to achieve 600 points and rebounds. This year, Reese also launched her own signature Reebok shoe that exemplifies her "unapologetic" personality when playing basketball or simply off the court.

The show included basketball based fashion alongside inclusive musical performances from the likes of Missy Elliott and K pop group Twice, showcasing the blend of culture, fashion, and entertainment.
