While Americans spend the Fourth of July with family and friends, they also have plans to spend it with a good film. Whether you're chilling at home after a BBQ, you've got friends over and want to watch something mildly entertaining in the background, or simply looking for a movie that embodies the spirit of the holiday; there will be plenty of offerings on the major streaming platforms and TV networks that encompass the experience of Independence Day.

This year's streaming menu consists of a variety of patriotic themes with some dramas, historical stories, summer comedies, and classic films. They capture and reflect the values, history, and culture of the country.

War movies like Savan Private Ryan and Born on the Fourth of July are usually solid options for anyone looking to see something of meaning and contemplation, many family favorites like The Sandlot, and action-packed films like Independence Day are now also, right on cue.

Many streaming services have compiled special collections for the Fourth of July weekend, including some streaming service featuring a combination of summertime movies and patriotic options, like Prime Video, Max, and Netflix who even have a few options that clearly feature new releases.

For example, Netflix currently features a movie called America: The Motion Picture, an animated comic version of American history and Born on the Fourth of July, which stars Tom Cruise as the Vietnam veteran. The streaming service also includes documentaries and other varieties of films that depict aspects of American culture and values including their more traditional films.

At the top of the patriotic list of selections on Prime Video are American Sniper and The Patriot. Max (formerly HBO Max) has the historical drama Lincoln, which tells the story of President Abraham Lincoln and his attempt to get the 13th Amendment passed.

Childhood family favorites, like The Great Outdoors and National Treasure are still family favorites. Some family-favorite nostalgic sporting items still stand the test of time like Field of Dreams or The Sandlot.

Cable networks are also joining the party. AMC, FX, and Freeform are all offering special programming for the duration of the weekend. Movies such as Rocky, A Few Good Men, Top Gun, and Star Trek will be displayed throughout the day and evening.
