Counting Crows has returned with new music and a big tour to celebrate celebrating 30 years since their debut. Counting Crows March 2025 have released a full-length album, Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets!

To explain, Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets! builds on Counting Crows’ 2021 EP Butter Miracle, Suite One and as an album with new songs, it creates a fulfilled musical journey. The newest album includes nine songs that flow together musically and lyrically, specifically crafted to listen to the album straight through - as one musical work. Adam Duritz, lead singer, wrote the album while he was staying at a farm house in England, where he said he free his mind and more creatively unlocked his ideas after years of being unable to write.

Along with their newest release, Counting Crows begin a global tour. The Complete Sweets! Tour began on June 10 in Nashville, and features stops in cities such as Boston, San Diego, Paris, and London. The Gaslight Anthem are opening for most of the North American shows.

Duritz explained that they felt like the release of the new record, and the tour felt like a reset for the band, and early reviews from fans have been positive. The shows will feature songs from the new album, but also some of the band's classic hits that made them a fixture of the 1990s alternative rock scene.

In various conversations over the past few months, Adam Duritz has explained the creative intention behind the new album and how it was a different way to create than other previous work by the band. Rather than just recording singles, the band was trying to create songs that flowed together in order to create a single story. He even referenced that it's like writing chapters of a book, and each track flows into the next.

He noted that the songwriting process felt more personal this time and that the music reflects who he is now, rather than just who he was in the 1990s. He also expressed that the title of the album has a secret meaning, but he was not going to publicly explain it because he wanted fans to interpret the title on their own.

Duritz has been very vocal for years about what it was about fame that was challenging, and how it affected both his personal life, and his work. He has talked about mental health, feeling disconnected, and the journey of surviving with mental health challenges while staying connected to his music.

With Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets! and the new tour, Counting Crows seem to be in a new phase that includes their successful past, while allowing their creativity to flow in modern times. Old and new fans can feel the transition, and it feels both old and new.
