DC Studios has officially confirmed that a brand-new Wonder Woman movie is now in development. James Gunn, who leads the studio alongside Peter Safran, shared that the script for the upcoming film is already being written. This is the first solid update on the character's future since the previous version of the franchise was paused.
The new Wonder Woman film is part of DC’s broader reboot called “Gods and Monsters.” This phase includes a fresh lineup of heroes and stories that are meant to reshape the entire DC Universe.
While there was uncertainty about whether Wonder Woman would continue, it’s now clear that the character remains an important part of DC’s plans.

Gal Gadot, who previously played the role, is not expected to return. Her version of the character ended when the earlier Wonder Woman 3 project with director Patty Jenkins was canceled.
This new movie will likely feature a different actress and a new direction for the story.
James Gunn has clearly said that this movie is not connected to the upcoming HBO Max show “Paradise Lost,” which will tell the story of the Amazons from Themyscira.
The two projects are set in the same world but are being developed independently with different creative teams.
No casting details, director announcements, or release dates have been shared yet. Since the script is still in progress, fans may need to wait several more months before production details are revealed.
However, the confirmation of the project alone has sparked excitement among fans eager to see Wonder Woman return to the big screen.
This news also shows that DC still sees Superman, Batman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman as key characters in their future plans.. With Superman already filming and Supergirl in early development, the return of Wonder Woman rounds out the future lineup of core characters.
The new film presents an opportunity to introduce fresh talent and explore new stories within the DC Universe.
It’s a clean slate for one of the most iconic superheroes, and fans are hopeful for a powerful return that honors the character’s legacy while starting something new.
