Drake has dropped a new song called What Did I miss?, a surprise release that comes amid Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar.
After unveiling the single in an Iceman livestream on July 4, the lyrics include shots directly at Kendrick - and also at some of Drake’s former friends and associates that he felt abandoned him.
The song largely reflects Drake’s frustration with certain people who were a part of his inner circle, who stayed quiet during the disagreements and didn’t show their public support toward him when they could have.
The lyrics don’t name any names directly, but they certainly capture the emotions of feeling alone and wronged. While it's not explicitly stated, Drake's feelings of betrayal would suggest that he thinks some relationships, that were important or meaningful to him, have now taken damage or deteriorated as a consequence of the feud.
This latest release is another chapter in what has become a high-profile rap battle, something that has dominated headlines in 2024 and 2025.
It's an indication that Drake is not only defending useful narratives related to his music, he is also using his art to condemn those who he feels wronged him when the chips were down.

Drake files lawsuit against Universal in response to Kendrick’s diss
Drake's response to the feud with Kendrick Lamar is not just through his music, it is now through the legal system too. He just filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) claiming the label contributed to the dissemination of false and damaging allegations made by Kendrick in hit diss track Not Like Us.
In the lawsuit, Drake claims that UMG cited lyrics casting him in a false light referencing inappropriate behavior with minors, which he claims is entirely false.
Drake' legal team claims that UMG aided in amplifying Not Like Us without regard to the false and damaging allegations of inappropriate behavior with minors, and they claim those allegations are completely false and defamatory.
Currently, the case is pending in New York federal court, and if the claim proceeds as a defamation case, it will set case law for the legal responsibilities of a record label in instances of its artist's released content.
The current legal action demonstrates that Drake is not only attempting to clear his name in the court of public opinion but is also attempting to disrupt what he believes to be an organized attack on his reputation and credibility. The lawsuit represents a drastic escalation in what started off as a studio feud but has now made its way into a courtroom.
