Huma Qureshi Brother Stabbed in Deadly Delhi Parking Fight

An argument over a parked scooter in one of the most busy residential streets in Delhi's Jangpura area has led to tragedy. Asif Qureshi, the cousin of Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi, died after he was stabbed outside his residence in Jangpura's Bhogal Bazar Lane, on Thursday night. The family is mourning and the community has been rattled, after his killing which was captured on CCTV cameras.

How the Dispute Began

As per the account of the Delhi Police, the fight began when a scooter was parked directly in front of Asif's gate. The scooter was blocking Asif's ability to enter his driveway. At around 10:45 pm, Asif went outside to speak with the owners - identified by police as brothers Gautam and Ujjwal - to request the vehicle be moved.

Asif and Gautam started exchanging words, and those words quickly escalated to physical pushing and shoving. Investigators believe the situation escalated because the lane was narrow, congested and parking conflicts are common.

CCTV Footage Shows Terrifying Information

All of this was clearly captured by a CCTV camera located nearby, showing Gautam pinning Asif to the ground with a sharp object, believed to be an ice-pick, and stabbing him several times, while Ujjwal is restraining him to ensure he cannot adequately defend himself.

Perhaps the most disturbing moment captured is Sainaz Qureshi, Asif's wife, running to her husband's defense, and can be seen frantically trying to pull the attackers off, and then placing herself in the way. Immediate Medical Emergency and Death

Following the attack, neighbors and family members took Asif to a hospital nearby & upon arrival, the doctor pronounced him dead & concluded he had lost a considerable amount of blood and suffered from multiple stab wounds. His body was sent for post-mortem, where it was noted he had fatal injuries from stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.

Arrest of the Accused Brothers

The police wasted no time in starting a manhunt and arrested Gautam and Ujjwal within a matter of hours. Initial investigations indicate the following:     

• Gautam has a well documented history of abusing drugs and was known in the neighborhood for violence.     
• Though Ujjwal had never been involved in a crime before, he had been closely associated with his older brother and followed him around.  

Officers are still trying to determine if the attack was impulsive or if the two families had previously been at odds.    

Neighborhood Responses – From Disbelief to Rage

Residents of Bhogal Bazar Lane know Asif as a polite and respectful man who generally kept to himself and didn't argue with others. Everyone is also at a loss to understand how something so minor transformed into a deadly attack.

Locals say the area is narrow and congested and even if they have had some disputes over parking and whatever else in the past, there hasn't been anything like this. "We have disputes over space here all the time," said a shopkeeper who lives nearby. "No one plans for this type of thing."

The Emotional Toll on the Family

The Qureshi family is heartbroken. Sainaz's agonizing efforts to protect her husband, now freely circulated on the internet, have been traumatic to viewers across the country. Friends of the couple say they were married for several years and well regarded by their shared community.

Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has released no official news, but sources say she is in shock and supporting the family with their tragedy.

Police Investigation and Next Steps

The investigation is still not active and various important steps are being taken include:

• Finding the murder weapon, which we think was thrown or discarded somewhere in the vicinity.
• Collecting other CCTV footage from surrounding lanes. 
• Looking at the accused's previous behavior and possibly complaints of disputes between the accused and the victim.
• A chargesheet will be made for trial once the forensic and post mortem reports are all available.

Police officials have said they will try and speed it up because the crime is so serious and they believe they have good video evidence.
