We will examine each aspect, detail, revelation, and behind-the-scenes story in this article. By the end of this article, you will have a better understanding of the Dhurandhar franchise than most people in the industry know.Let's get to it!
Dhurandhar: The Complete Story So Far — From Part 1 to Part 2 to a Possible Part 3
To better understand Rakesh Bedi's interview that is about to unfold, we’ll first make sure that you are clear on what we’re referring to. If you haven’t seen both of the Dhurandhar movies yet, you won’t really understand the Jameel Jamali story — and you will be disappointed that there’s no longer excitement for the final installment in the Dhurandhar series… you might even feel like your food has been undercooked.
Dhurandhar (2025): How It All Began
Dhurandhar Part 1 was released on December 5, 2025, and was helmed by Aditya Dhar, the man responsible for Uri: The Surgical Strike. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Hamza Ali Mazari, an Indian intelligence officer, undercover in Karachi, Pakistan, whose mission is to destroy terror networks that have brought about some of the worst horrors to India, such as the hijacking of IC-814 in 1999 and the 2001 attack on Parliament.
The film had a runtime of almost 3 hours and 34 minutes, making it one of the longest Hindi films released in recent memory. Many expected audiences would grow restless with the lengthy duration; however, people were enthralled throughout the entire movie. In her review of the film, Renuka Vyavahare of the Times of India rated it 3.5 out of 5 stars, labelled it a "power-packed Karachi mafia thriller", while IGN's Siddhant Adlakha rated it 8 out of 10, stating that the film "treads a fine line between raucous entertainment and hateful propaganda". Whether or not you were in agreement with the politics of the film, you could not dispute the ability of the craft of the film.
Dhurandhar grossed over ₹1,000 crore (approx $125 million) worldwide within only 3 weeks after its release, making it Ranveer Singh's first ₹1,000 crore grossing film and the highest-grossing Bollywood film of any kind released after COVID. The film has grossed a total of ₹1,350.83 crore (approx $160 million) as of this writing.
Located in the centre of all the sparkling celebrity status was a sweet and engaging, but also very complicated and complex character, Jameel Jamali (played by Rakesh Bedi). In Part One, Jameel portrayed a senior politician for the Pakistani Awami Party (PAP), as well as a member of National Assembly. His character was loosely based on identified figures like both Nabil Gabol and Altaf Hussain. On the surface, he appeared to be nice (his demeanor seemed warm & inviting), as he was constantly referring to Hamza as “bacchan” (the Arabic word for a baby boy). However, as we saw in Part Two through a series of dramatic developments revealed by Jameel, he was not who he seemed at all.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026): The Twist That Changed Everything
Dhurandhar: The Revenge was released on March 19, 2026. It was a perfect time for the film against the backdrop of three significant festivals: Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and Eid al-Fitr. The film’s timing was such that it seemed to be everywhere.
The sequel continues the story immediately from when Part 1 ended: Hamza (Ranveer Singh) is still in Karachi, still pretending to be someone else and still trying to find those responsible for the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. There are higher stakes than before; the violence and mayhem are greater than before; and the emotional impact of this film is going to be hard for viewers to bear.
The most shocking thing about this movie is that it pertains to Jameel Jamali.
In one of the most unbelievable moments in any Indian film made in 2026, Hamza is in serious trouble; he has been revealed for who he is; his world is about to come crashing down. And then when everything seems ruined, Jameel Jamali picks him up off of the ground and tells Hamza, “You are not just a Pakistani politician. You are an Indian asset! For years I have been working for the Indians, and I have successfully poisoned the Schneider from the inside.”
When Jameel said, "Mera Baccha Hai Tu", it was just an expression of love for Hamza but now it means much more than that. Jameel had been like a father figure to Hamza. In Jameel’s world of darkness and deceit, Hamza was the only thing that Jameel believed in.
The impact this revelation had on audiences around the world was incredible! People cheered or cried at the same time they were watching the film. Nobody could have predicted that the dialogue would go viral.
Total box office gross for the film is approximately rs. 1,700 crores. This makes it the third highest grossing Indian film of all time. Aditya Dhar becomes only the 2nd Indian director to have directed two consecutive films (of which both grossed over 1000 crores).

Rakesh Bedi's Shocking Revelation About Dhurandhar 3
Here is the part you came for.
In early April 2026, when the movies were still playing in theatres and breaking all kinds of records, Rakesh Bedi made an appearance on a special episode of "Guest in the Newsroom" (a format of interviews). He also talked with multiple outlets including Pinkvilla about what all fans wanted to know; Is Dhurandhar (3) happening?
Before we go into what he said, we should give you some context. When the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge (part 2) was advertised and released, it was officially stated by the filmmakers to be the final film of a duology. So, Aditya Dhar planned on making two films, not three.
So, when fans started screaming for a Part 3, even the people that made the movies were shocked.
Rakesh Bedi's response to the question in his interview was very interesting. He said that Aditya Dhar had provided him with a backstory for the character Jameel Jamali that was very intricate and detailed in who he is, how he became an Indian asset, and what happened before Hamza arrived in Lyari (the city in which all three movies are based). As Rakesh explained, this backstory could definitely make an entire movie.
Bedi's response was charged with passion and thoughtfulness when asked about Dhurandhar 3. He did not outright deny the possibility either. Bedi elaborated on the way that he was surprised by the audience's response to Mera Baccha Hai Tu, particularly how it was spawned by its viral sensation status. He did say that the fans' love for a character is great enough for a filmmaker to pay attention.
Although he did not verify that there would be a third film, he did not consider Jameel Jamali's story complete in his mind, and stated that Aditya Dhar knew things about the character that had never been seen in the film.
This news is earth-shattering for fans of Dhurandhar.
