IT: Welcome to Derry is an upcoming horror prequel series based on the book 'It' by Stephen King. Set in the fictional town of Derry, Maine, in 1962, the series will tell the origin of the evil that takes the form of Pennywise and the story that leads to the events of the films in 2017 and 2019. Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs are producing the series, which is slated to premiere on HBO Max and the HBO channel.
HBO has confirmed the U.S. premiere: Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT. Times will differ regionally. New episodes air weekly on Sundays.

With the release of IT: Welcome to Derry conveniently around Halloween, the timing is optimal. This series will utilize a weekly release strategy that will build anticipation and allow fans to schedule a weekly horror time with the show every week.
While Netflix searches may throw off some mislead you, the series is released within HBO's ecosystem. The episodes unlock globally at staggered local times to increase viewership and reduce piracy. If you’re in India, getting up early in the morning to watch it may require setting the alarm for it — but Halloween scheduling, and Pennywise returning back to stream with the series is worth it for a horror streamer.
