Katy Perry Spotted Dining with Justin Trudeau in Montréal

In what many are calling one of the most surprising celebrity sighting of the summer, global pop star Katy Perry was seen dining with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Montréal on the night of July 28, 2025.

The two were seen at Le Violon, an upscale restaurant with a cozy and intimate feel, that is already popular with its high profile guests for its discretion. According to restaurant staff and other witnesses, Perry and Trudeau were seated at their own private table for dinner and a two hour conversation. Reports indicate they ordered seafood and wine and seemed at ease, happy and engaged in one another's company the whole evening. 

While no expression of physical affection could be observed, their body language—leaning into conversation closely, looking into each others' eyes, and having quiet laughs together—has the public talking.

What made this little escapade even more impressive, Perry and Trudeau apparently requested to meet the kitchen team once their meal had finished to personally thank them for their meal. The restaurant employees said that both men were "charming and down-to-Earth," but also remarked on how comfortable and in-tune they appeared to be with one another, despite their obvious differences.

The unlikely twosome — one a mega-successful pop artist, the other a long-term political operative — has, therefore, given reason to wonder whether a relationship is developing. What has also made this story all the more intriguing is the timing. Both Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are starting new chapters in their personal lives, both having very recently ended their public breakups.

• Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom confirmed their split a little over a month ago after nearly ten years together. They had been engaged since 2019 and have a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. The couple said in a joint statement they were both looking to "change the relationship to co-parenting."

However, you can't deny the oddity in that pairing: Katy Perry, with all of her daring aesthetic and frequently visceral text-types, dining with Justin Trudeau, once upon a time our more progressive leader (and global persona from our view) in a diner in Montréal, in summer? The distance means everything to me, and I'm sure that's used in lots of setups we're interested in.

So, we still don't know yet what it means to those two together - the pictures continue circulating and the insiders are not talking, while fans and media ponder.
