Kelsey Parker, the widow of The Wanted singer Tom Parker has made some very sad news public. On 22 June, Kelsey told the world that her baby son, Phoenix, was stillborn a week before he was due.
Kelsey made the announcement in an emotional Instagram post, in which she said that Phoenix was "born sleeping."
She had included a loving poem she had written in the tribute to her baby son, showing the love, joy, and sadness for the child she never did have in her life. She also asked for privacy as she and her partner, Will Lindsay, looked to be together, to grieve their loss.
Kelsey would have been expecting her third child, as she has two other children — daughter Aurelia, 5, and son Bodhi, 4 — with her late husband Tom Parker, who died in 2022. Phoenix would have been her first child with Lindsay.
Kelsey has received an outpouring of sympathy on social media from both fans and celebrities, who have called her strong and honest during such a difficult time. Kelsey said she is taking time to grieve but appreciates the support.
Tom Parker passed away in March 2022 following a battle with glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. He was just 33 years old. Tom Parker was famous as a member of boy band The Wanted from the United Kingdom and Ireland. He gained notable fame in the early 2010s with hits such as “Glad You Came” and “All Time Low.”
After Tom Parker's death, Kelsey Parker had worked to honor his memory. She set up a charity fund in Tom's memory to fund research in brain tumors; she has taken part in several campaigns to raise awareness. The family has continued with the cause of charity football matches in Tom's honor or for the causes Tom Parker cared about, on an annual basis to bring people together.
Kelsey has been very public about her grief journey, often discussing the complexities of losing a spouse while parenting young children. The way she has openly shared her experience and grief has allowed others who have gone through grief and loss to feel as though they are not alone, and Kelsey has inspired many.
Although she has moved on in her journey and sometime later found love again in Will Lindsay, she continued to speak about Tom and the importance of remembering him. She continues to recognize him, and refer to her experience with Tom, as an important aspect of her and her children's lives.
As she grieves the loss of her infant son now, she is again surrounded by love, and support. She requested space to grieve, but is still grateful for the messages of kindness, and compassion that has come her way.
