During a recent concert, country singer LeAnn Rimes maintained her poise even when she suffered a dental mishap mid-song. The Grammy Award-winning Rimes was performing at the Skagit Casino Resort in Bow, Washington, on June 22, just days after the concert in question, when she found herself on stage with a dental bridge that fell out while she performed.
While Rimes was singing her 1996 hit "One Way Ticket," she realized, mid-song, that her bridge fell out. "I just immediately felt it flip around in my mouth," Rimes posted following the show. "The thing seems like an odd choice for the delicate job of holding my unforgiving, big tooth, so I wasn't surprised. I just panicked a little inside." After a quick breath, she moved to the side of the stage to adjust the dental bridge before coming back adjustable mode.
The singer later told her adoring fans on social media after the concert that, inside, it threw her into a panic, but was able to keep singing through it, with little sleep (I am assuming as it was a late night gig!). Rimes explained in more detail, she repeatedly had to push the bridge back the entire show; even having to push gently while pronouncing words for songs with important phrases! Each time she pushed her dental fix back into place, she felt ridiculous.
At one point during the bridge of the song "Can't Fight the Moonlight,” it came out all the way. Instead of letting the moment interfere with singing the song, Rimes handled the issue with a little humor and kept going. Rimes called it a first for her career and that it better be the last.
Rimes' Fans Appreciate Her Honesty and Professionalism
After the show, Rimes posted an Instagram video from backstage on that night, explaining the moment and laughing. She called it "an epic example of how the show must go on" and encouraged others not to be embarrassed when faced with that type of moment.
"I panicked, ran to the side of the stage, pushed it back in, and kept singing," Rimes said in the video. "I was laughing at myself the whole time, but I just kept going."
She poked fun at how impossible it was to pronounce certain letters out of context with the dental bridge, especially things with "F" and "TH" sounds.
The audience response has been overwhelmingly positive. Many considered Rimes to be courageous and admired her honesty and ability to totally improvise her performance using humor and grace. Others stated that moments like this make celebrities more relatable and more human.
Despite the discomfort and a little embarrassment, I think Rimes turned an unpleasant experience into a positive message about perseverance and not taking yourself too seriously. By openly sharing her experience, she not only shared an authentic moment with her audience, but reminded people to not take themselves so seriously and that mistakes and surprises can happen to anyone -- even on stage in front of a crowd.

As she said herself, "If anybody ever needs a reminder that it doesn't always has to go right, but you have to carry on, just watch that video again."
LeAnn Rimes hasn't reported any additional complications, and it seems she is taking things optimistic and in stride. She went on to perform her concert as planned, and Rimes even managed to get through her performance without any official cancellations or taking a break in the show.
