Organizers of the Lytham Festival have cancelled the Friday night concert scheduled for July 4 due to severe weather. Following strong winds as well as predictions of dangerous weather, the organizers were concerned for the safety of both the audience and performers.
The headline act was Alanis Morissette, with support from The Lottery Winners, Liz Phair and Train. The concert was expected to bring huge numbers, however, festival officials announced Friday afternoon that it would not be able to proceed as scheduled.
Now, in an official statement released by the organisers said explained the weather has made the event site too risky to open to the public. "We know how disappointing this is for everyone, but we must prioritize the safety of the audience, artists and crew."
All those who had purchased tickets to the cancelled show will receive a refund. Festival staff noted that ticket providers will send out a communication regarding how and when refund will be processed.
This is the second big cancellation at Lytham Festival 2025. Last Wednesday, after lead singer Caleb Followill suffered an injury, Kings of Leon had to drop out of the lineup, forcing the cancellation of the festival's opening night.
Despite the setback, the rest of the festival still planned to go ahead during the weekend with other headline acts set to perform.
We are advising guests to be prepared for all elements of weather over the weekend, including potential showers and winds as the weather system continues to affect the area. The safety measures will remain in place, so you can still participate in the event safely.
