Marvel Studios has announced Wonder Man's release window, confirming the show on Disney+ for December 2025. Wonder Man is a reported eight-episode live-action series as part of Marvel Studios' Phase Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Wonder Man follows Simon Williams as a Hollywood stuntman-turned-superhero, and the project is intended to blend action and drama of a classic Marvel tale while “seeing behind the curtain” of the entertainment industry. According to Marvel, the show will have a lighter tone, with humor and satire to give it a different take than past Marvel series.
The series is being developed under the Marvel Spotlight label, which prioritizes character-driven narratives that are not dependent on the MCU’s extensive history, to appeal to established fans and new viewers who might be less familiar with interconnected Marvel storylines.
Filming began in April 2023 in Los Angeles, but was suspended during the Hollywood writers/actors strike. Production continued in early 2024 and completed by April 2024.
The series developed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, along with Andrew Guest, who is the showrunner. Each episode is expected to be between 20 and 40 minutes long; the series will be shorter and faster-paced than previous Marvel shows.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, recognized for his work in projects such as Watchmen and Aquaman, has been cast in the lead role of Simon Williams. Simon Williams is a stuntman and an actor in the comics. He was introduced to audiences in the 1960s by Marvel Comics, as a character who eventually receives superpowers and has to balance the responsibilities associated with fame.
Ben Kingsley will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery, a washed-up actor introduced in Iron Man 3, and who also appeared in Shang-Chi. Trevor will add comic relief to the series and will link the series to previous Marvel storylines.
Other cast members confirmed to be in the series include:
- Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams, a.k.a. the villain Grim Reaper
- Ed Harris as Simon's agent, Neal Saroyan
- Josh Gad, Luke Glazier, Byron Bowers, and Béchir Sylvain in undisclosed acting roles.
Marvel's executives have said that the series will present a "very different" type of superhero story in which identity, ambition, and the challenges associated with a public life are front and center, especially in a world in which superheroes are a common occurrence.

Wonder Man is also anticipated to incorporate self-aware humor about Hollywood and the filmmaking process, giving it a tone that is beyond the norm for any other title in the MCU.
