Netflix has announced that the eagerly awaited and highly anticipated third season of Squid Game will be released globally and made available to subscribers on June 27, 2025. The new season is set to be six episodes long and will all be available to stream on that day.
This season will conclude the conclusion of a story that captivated audiences across the globe in 2021 and then captivated a second season in 2022. Lee Jung-jae returns as Seong Gi-hun, the lead character who survived the first deadly game. Following the events of Season 2, Gi-hun will now be looking to confront those who set the deadly competitions into motion, which completely changed his life.
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show's creator, has described Season 3 as the most dark and emotional yet. The story is expected to take a deeper dive into Gi-hun's personal journey and help him dismantle the powerful organization that continues to execute the deadly game.
Netflix confirmed the time each episode will be available at the same moment in regions. The U.S. episodes will be available at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET, while India will be available at 12:30 p.m. IST, UK will be available at 8 a.m. BST.
Alongside Lee Jung-jae, several of the key cast members are set to return for the show's final season. Lee Byung-hun will reprise his role as the mysterious Front Man, Wi Ha-joon returns as Detective Jun-ho, both will likely hold significant parts in the new plot.
The final season will be busier with more extreme challenges, more difficult decisions, and more emotional turning points. As Gi-hun is searching for justice, the actual game and those who are in charge of running it will also be explored in more depth. It is also likely the plot will wrap up many of the major threads which were left open in previous seasons.
This will mark the closing chapter of the Squid Game storyline. However, the creator may have future spin-offs under the same fictional universe. For now, Season 3 will at least be the conclusion of the story that began with a mysterious invitation and a game-for-your-life competition.
With global anticipation and Netflix pitching it as one of its major releases in 2025, we can expect Squid Game Season 3 to reach large audiences again. Plus, the worldwide release makes sure everyone will get to feel the same conclusion at the same time!
