A Personal Tribute to Her Roots and Her Journey
Noah Cyrus has dropped her second studio album, I Want My Loves Ones to Go With Me, and it marks her most personal release to date. The 25-year-old singer takes audiences on a journey of self-discovery, grief, and healing, and relies on her family and her own history for her inspiration.
Released on July 11, 2025 - the day that would have been her late grandfather Ron "Pappy" Cyrus's birthday - the album's title came from an old hymn written by her great-grandfather, and was part of the track "Apple Tree." With this she also added to the musical tribute legacy of her family.
Noah states that, the album represents who she is as a person. She has teamed up with producers Mike Crossey and PJ Harding and worked with artist such as Fleet Foxes, Blake Shelton, and Ella Langley, and her father Billy Ray Cyrus, who wrote the song "With You."
Throughout the album, Noah opens up about experiences surrounding anxiety, loss, and self-finding. Noah has shared her experiences living with panic attacks, depression, and addiction in the past. And in this record, she takes those painful experiences and makes good, authentic music.
Songs That Speak About Grief, Growth, and Identity
This album represents a pivotal moment for Noah Cyrus—not only in her career, but in her entire life. A lot of the music on this album was written during a period of personal transition, including the death of her grandmother in 2020 and the divorce of her parents in early 2025.
She sings about a sense of separation, missing home, and learning to stand on her own two feet. Many of the songs like "My Side of the Bed" and "Long Ride Home" convey themes of sorrow, separation, but also hope and growth.
Noah says writing the album allowed her to heal. She recorded emotionally charged tracks in locations of quiet, stripped-down spaces, which allowed her room to be honest. She hopes the songs speak to people dealing with losing a person close to them.
This album has also allowed her to embrace her own identity—away from her family legacy. She acknowledges her roots; however, she said this album represents finding her own voice and feeling confident in who she is today.
I Want My Loved Ones to Go With Me ties together the past and present. It is a reflection of her past people and memories, and it is a message of strength for anyone trying to find themselves.
