Love Island USA couple Pepe Garcia and Iris Kendall have officially broken up, just weeks after leaving the villa. Pepe confirmed the split in a statement to TMZ on August 28, saying:
“Iris and I are not together anymore. That’s just the way it goes.”
The duo, beloved by fans on Season 7 and together since summer when they met on the show, shocked fans by breaking up since they were viewed as one of the strongest couples from the season.
Pepe Denies Cheating Allegations
Soon after breakup rumors spread, speculation of cheating surfaced online. Pepe quickly shut down the claims, telling People that honesty is central to who he is:
“My friends and family know who I am as a person, and that’s honesty. That’s the most important thing.”
He made it clear that the decision to separate was mutual and not linked to infidelity.
Iris Breaks Silence With Heartfelt Note
Iris Kendall also spoke out through E! News, sharing that while the breakup was painful, she is grateful for the experience and support from fans:
"The connection that I formed has come to an end, and even though it is not how I would have imagined, I will always appreciate our unique experience
together."
She shares that she is hoping to keep her life private without drama and also thanking her supporters for their unwavering support. On Thursday a story shared on Iris Instagram where she holds a cookie that showed a picture of her in tears, and she wrote "LOL thank you for this @funnyfacebakery."
Social Media Signs Sparked Speculation
Fans had already noticed hints of a split days before the announcement. The couple unfollowed each other on Instagram around August 24. Iris also removed pictures of Pepe from her feed, while Pepe still kept some of their moments online.
These digital signs fueled breakup rumors, which were later confirmed by both.
Love Island Breakups: A Familiar Pattern
Reality TV romances often struggle outside the villa. Pepe and Iris join a growing list of couples from Love Island USA who split after the season ended. Recently as well, Amaya and Bryan announced their break up leaving fans to ponder if reality show couples can really survive "real life".
This is emblematic of the pressures of fame, busy schedules, and the long-distance relationship troubles most contestants faced with once their on-screen romance was over.
