Ricki Lake is being candid about her most recent decision to have plastic surgery. The 56-year-old actress and former daytime television host disclosed during a recent visit to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she had a "lower face and neck lift". She said she has felt more confident, and is proud of the results.

Lake said that the surgery occurred shortly after a significant change in lifestyle. She lost over 30 pounds exercising regularly, and eating healthy, from hiking daily to adopting a keto diet and intermittent fasting and doing Pilates. While she was happy about losing weight, she said she had some sagging skin around her jawline that was very uncomfortable for her.

Instead of staying self-conscious, she chose the surgical route and was transparent about the process. Lake said her surgeon, Dr. Allen Foulad, could not have done a better job, describing the outcome as completely natural.

Lake said she did not take any weight loss medication, instead her wellness journey was her own effort and the support of her husband, Ross Burningham. They both started in October of 2023 focusing on their health goals together.

Ricki Lake has always been someone who is outspoken, so it should come as no surprise that her decision to discuss her facelift candidly is consistent with that behavior. She told viewers she wants to help diminish stigma around cosmetic procedures by being open and honest. "I've always been totally transparent. I don't want there to be any stigma," she said.

This is not the first time Lake has spoken candidly about experiences that were not easy in her life. In 2019, she, at the urging of her doctors, shaved her head after suffering long-term hair loss. She also embraced her new gray hair, openly discussing how hard that was to do. What she announced in her most recent post was part of an ongoing process of self-care and discovering confidence as she continues to age.

Lake's frankness arrives at a moment when a more and more public figures are being open about switched and altered body parts in casual conversation. Public figures like Barbara Corcoran and Kylie Jenner have recently shared some of their procedural experiences with their own bodies, helping to normalize the dialogue around options about physical appearance.

For Lake, it doesn't matter whether someone wants plastic surgery, the intent is to support people in making informed decisions for themselves. By imparting her story, Lake hopes to support a sense of belonging and certainty in doing what makes them feel good.
