Lionsgate has provided the initial glimpse of The Housemaid, a psychological thriller led by Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. Paul Feig directed this adaptation from Freida McFadden’s best-selling book. In it, Sweeney portrays Millie, a troubled young woman looking to reconstruct herself. Game-changing and certainly entertaining, she accepts a role as a live-in maid for the wealthy Winchester family, which finds her caught in manipulation and secrets and anxiety.
In the film, Amanda Seyfried, Nina Winchester, plays the sophisticated matriarch character who's motive is concealed. The film also stars Brandon Sklenar as Andrew Winchester and Michele Morrone in a supporting role. The early images hallway scenes of the trailer capitalized on the opulence and in tension, ambition, confrontation desire and betrayal, toward anticipation of a suspenseful story with unexpected surprises.
The Housemaid will be released in theaters on December 19, 2025, giving everyone just enough time to hype up this holiday season thriller! According to director Paul Feig, the tension in the novel comes to life the electric chemistry between Sweeney and Seyfried on screen!
Cast, Characters, and What to Expect
Having such an ensemble cast supports both talent and dexterity. Sweeney plays Millie as a tenacious, quick-thinking, and determined character. Seyfried’s Nina seems poised but brims with dark secrets and motives that drive much of the tension. Sklenar plays Andrew as likeable, yet utterly ambiguous and morally fluid in a lot of the family dynamics. Morrone’s character is still unclear, leaving fans speculating who she plays.
