Tulisa Contostavlos, who rose to fame as part of N-Dubz and as a solo artist, is grieving the death of her father Plato Contostavlos. The British talent confirmed this devastating loss on social media with a simple message.

Posting an old photographic of her together with her father, Tulisa also included the text in her Instagram post: "Love you pops, rest in peace" and , "Forever my fathers daughter". The emotional post quickly attracted hundreds of condolence messages from fans and fellow celebrities.

His name is Plato, liked to be known as Plato, former of Mungo Jerry in the 1970’s which made an impact on the music scene. To Tulisa, Plato was not just her dad but an early influence on Tulisa’s music career, and they had a firm musical connection, which she has alluded to in many interviews.

Dappy, her cousin and one of N-Dubz members since they were kids, had also paid tribute to Plato, with a short clip of Plato along with a simple respectful message. Other musicians and wellwishers came forward with love messages clearly showing strong support for the family as a whole versus the individuals at such a tough time.

The level of sympathy displayed, reflects the level of respect Tulisa has, not only by fans, but also by peers, not only as a musician, but also as someone who has been able to deal with personal issues in the public eye.

Plato Contostavlos was a musician best known for his time in blues-rock band Mungo Jerry. They achieved fame with the hit “In the Summertime” back in 1970 and it is one of those tunes that will never die. He eventually retreated into the shadows, but he still loved music.

Tulisa has often stated that her father influenced her love for music. As a child, she would go to his studio in north London, where she first experienced recording and performing. In previous interviews, she has recalled singing by age five, and how much her father supported her.

There were issues in their relationship as Tulisa maneuvered through fame at a younger age, but they kept a strong bond through the years, mostly because of their love of music.

Tulisa once stated that her dad was the freedom and structure. In her 2010 documentary Tulisa: My Mum and Me, Tulisa was candid about her complicated family life and how music held them all together.

This recent loss comes right after Tulisa had been beginning to re-establish herself in the public realm, following a well-done reunion with N-Dubz, which had recently made a comeback with other musical talent. The timing added a personal layer to what was looking like a promising period in her working life. We still feel good that she has been able to share her sombre moment in the open, and her stance has been received with sympathy and respect by those who support her.
