King of the Hill Is Coming Back — Here's What to Know

Honestly, I didn’t think this would actually happen, but King of the Hill is officially making a comeback after more than a decade. Yep, Season 14 is dropping on August 4, 2025, and it’s going straight to Hulu (also available via Disney+ in the Hulu hub). All ten episodes will be out on the same day, so no need to wait week by week. If you grew up watching Hank Hill and his quiet but hilarious life in Arlen, Texas, this is big news. It’s been 15 years since the show ended, so there’s a lot to catch up on.

What’s Changed Since We Last Saw the Hills?

So, a lot has changed. The story picks up with Hank and Peggy Hill coming back to Arlen after living and working in Saudi Arabia (yep, that happened) to save for retirement. But when they return, Arlen doesn’t really feel like the same place. It’s changed a lot — new people, new problems, and a totally different vibe.

Meanwhile, Bobby Hill is all grown up now. He’s 21 and living in Dallas, trying to make it as a chef. He’s still got that goofy, lovable personality, but now he’s chasing a dream instead of just getting into mischief. He’s also still friends with Connie, Joseph, and Chane — yep, they’re all back too.

Who’s Back (and Who’s Not)?

Most of the original voices are back — which is honestly great. Mike Judge is still voicing Hank, Kathy Najimy is back as Peggy, Pamela Adlon as Bobby, Stephen Root as Bill, and Lauren Tom as Minh. It kind of feels like the old gang getting back together.

Sadly, a couple of voices won’t be the same. Johnny Hardwick, who was Dale, passed away in 2023, but he had already recorded about six episodes before that. For the rest of the season, Toby Huss is stepping in. And we’ll definitely feel the absence of Brittany Murphy (Luanne) and Tom Petty (Lucky), who both passed away years ago. The new season will pay tribute to them, which is a nice touch.

It Feels More Grown-Up Now (But Still Funny)

The vibe this time around is a little more serious in some ways. The show looks at what it’s like coming back to a changed hometown, dealing with how society has shifted, and figuring out your place in it all. Hank is still that guy who loves propane and lawn care, but now he’s seeing a world that feels more divided and confusing than before. The show doesn't try to lecture — it just shows things as they are, and lets you feel however you want about it.

At the same time, it’s still the same King of the Hill we remember — dry humor, small town problems, and that very real feeling that somehow, this show gets life better than most others do.

New Opening Credits? Yep, They’re Different

Hulu dropped the new opening sequence already, and it’s kind of emotional. It shows how much time has passed — like literally, with a time-lapse from the old days to now. There’s even a quick nod to the COVID-19 pandemic and other moments that shaped the last 15 years. It’s not flashy or anything, but it hits hard if you’ve been a longtime fan.

You can check it out on Hulu’s YouTube if you’re curious.

Should You Watch It?

If you were ever a fan of King of the Hill, this revival looks like it’s worth watching. It’s not just relying on nostalgia — it’s actually adding to the story in a meaningful way.

Quick reasons to tune in:

  • All 10 episodes drop at once on August 4.

  • Most of the original cast is back.

  • The show covers new themes but still feels familiar.

  • Bobby’s storyline as an adult is fresh and fun.

  • It’s on Hulu and Disney+ (via Hulu hub), so it’s easy to access.

Basically, if you liked the original, this feels like a grown-up version of it — in a good way.
