The official trailer for Predator: Badlands has finally come out, exposing fans to the most ambitious Predator film in a long time. The film is set to come out globally on July 21, 2025 from 20th Century Studios. The trailer is their first official confirmation of the film's exclusive theatrical debut in the US and UK on November 7, 2025, with international markets getting it as early as November 5, 2025, in some cases.
A Brave New World for the Predator Franchise
This time, Predator: Badlands occupies unknown territory for its franchise. Whereas other films leaned heavily on misty jungles or grimy urban settings, Badlands takes place on a harsh and uncharted alien planet. The story occurs in a distant future. The trailer depicts desolate and dreary red colored deserts, marked by ruins and storms; a more hostile environment than the series has presented before.
Notable elements from the trailer and synopsis:
- Dek, the young Predator, is banished from his clan, and must prove himself by taking down a legendary, supposedly unbeatable, apex predator.
- Thia is Dek's unlikely human-like android companion played by Elle Fanning. Based on the trailers, Thia also seems to have her own thoughts, motivations, and secrets.
- The trailer contains some truly hair-raising lines: “So this is your first hunt. You’ve chosen the most dangerous planet in the entire universe. In this place, you’re not the predator—you’re the prey.”
This alien world, billed as “the ultimate apex predators’ hunting ground” is spectacular and dangerous.
The trailer confirms:
- Elle Fanning as Thia (android)
- Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek (exiled Predator)
- Direction from Dan Trachtenberg, whose work on Prey set the standard.
