Hudson River Expeditions in Cold Spring is offering guided kayak, canoe, and paddleboard trips for those looking to have outdoor fun.

The trips are open to the public and led by guides who are highly-trained and knowledgeable, making them ideal for novice paddlers as well as experienced paddlers. They also offer rentals for folks wanting to go out in their own boats.

The "New Kawaii Summer" program, ongoing through July 3,  is happening at the Hudson River Museum in Poughkeepsie. This program engages kids and families with enjoyable hands-on crafts inspired by Japanese pop culture and design. This is an indoor program and a perfect way to spend a hot summer afternoon.

The area is also involved in a continuing environmental program known as Paddle for Our Hudson, a summer-long event that encourages residents to log miles spent on our local waterways. The aim is to raise awareness about river health and help support conservation work. Participants can log kayaking, canoeing, or paddleboarding as part of their participation.

And music enthusiasts may want to see if Twilight Music in the Park is presenting a performance in conjunction to Walkway Over the Hudson. No specific performance is advertised for June 30, 2023, this free set of performances is based on a continuing...
having a schedule, changes in performance is typically noticed just prior to event dates.

It is a relatively quiet day for us to report on one of the larger events. However, we have two travel alerts to pass along for drivers in the area.

The New York State Department of Transportation is being workers overnight closure on Route 17 in Orange County and Route 52 in Putnam County. These work projects are a part of a total of $13.7 million improvement program for roads that include resurfacing and safety projects.

On Route 52, crews are resurfacing a five-mile stretch between Wallkill and Montgomery. On Route 52, work is on a three-mile stretch between Lake Carmel and Kent. Lane closures are likely for overnight hours and affect late-night and early-morning drivers. Those planning to drive during these hours need to plan accordingly and be mindful for signs in work zones.
