Whitney Purvis Mourns the Sudden Loss of Her 16-Year-Old Son
Whitney Purvis, known from MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, is facing an unimaginable tragedy following the sudden death of her teenage son, Weston Owen Gosa Jr. He passed away on June 2, 2025, at just 16 years old.
Weston was found unresponsive at home early in the morning. Emergency teams tried to revive him with CPR, but he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital in Gordon County, Georgia. His death has left the family in deep shock and heartbreak.
Weston had been dealing with several health conditions for years, including diabetes, Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, and Addison’s disease. These conditions made him especially vulnerable. An autopsy is currently being done to find out the exact cause of death.
Whitney shared a moving tribute to her son on social media, describing him as “perfect” and remembering their last hug with love and sadness. She said losing him was her “worst nightmare.”
Weston’s stepmother, Amy Gosa, also posted a tribute. She called him bright, funny, and strong despite his many health challenges. The family started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the cost of his funeral and headstone, as his death came so unexpectedly.
Tensions rose during the funeral when Whitney claimed she wasn’t allowed to attend because she arrived late and was not listed as a guest. The viewing reportedly began earlier than she was told. Despite the dispute, she was later given an urn containing some of Weston’s ashes.
Whitney has faced several challenges in recent years, including losing custody of her children in 2018 and a 2024 arrest for missing child support payments. Still, the loss of her son has brought her back into the public eye in a painful and emotional way.
