Since the arrest of Duke Dennis, the 31-year-old creator, on August 2, 2025, at a San Antonio shopping mall, there has been rampant speculation online. If you have come across the currently trending video, you already know the gist of it. Duke is on the floor, handcuffed and surrounded by police, with Cenat streaming above. Let us delve deeper.

What Happened at the Mall?

Evidently, Duke was with AMP member Cenat at the mall, likely participating in a ‘hide and seek’ section. Social media videos show him being escorted by police, which, for some reason, led them to need to physically drag him out. He is now officially charged with criminal trespassing under the Texas statute, as well as evading arrest.

AMP was in the middle of the San Antonio leg of their summer tour, which was marked by the arrest. They had been filming from a sprawling, 53 acre estate once owned by an NBA legend Tony Parker.

That certainly adds an insane element to the story; Duke was being arrested in the middle of a livestream, and the rest of the AMP crew was out and about.

What Charges Is He Facing?

Criminal Offense of Trespassing (Texas Pen Code Sec 30.05): Entering and remaining on a property which is another person’s to control without their permission, or after being granted access and subsequently instructed to leave. This is usually classified as a misdemeanor.

Evading Arrest (Pen Code Sec 38.04): This offense applies to an individual who actively evades or resists a lawful attempt to arrest them. This may be classified as a misdemeanor or a felony, contingent upon the level of force employed.

As of now, there are no officially documented reports that would suggest that Duke's actions caused significant damage to property or caused a confrontation. There are no clarifications in the police reports regarding the use of force.

What Caused the Social Media Frenzy?

Fans and followers took to the internet in a frenzy. Alleged pictures of Duke's mugshot were surfacing and people were commenting non-stop.

One of the tweets that went viral from @FearedBuck showcased Duke in handcuffs with the caption:

“Duke Dennis getting arrested while playing hide and seek with Kai Cenat”

But Now Duke Dennis was released:

The reactions from people tended to strike a balance between humorous and concerned. A small portion of them remarked that he should’ve just complied when he was asked to exit. A section of them were concerned as well stating, “Somebody go get my man RIGHT TF NOW.”

Did AMP Participate to Fuel This Controversy?

It should be noted that the arrest took place during the AMP's San Antonio period, however there is no concrete evidence that would link this arrest to the content that was filmed. The co. Kai Cenat, Fanum, Agent 00, Chrisnxtdoor, and ImDavisss livestreamed as well as did public meets from a mansion for weeks.

AMP undoubtedly attracts attention everywhere they go. With footage being recorded, the boundary between private shenanigans and potential legal ramifications becomes increasingly unclear.

Fandom Responses and Future Outlook

Let us look at the emotional blend from fans so far:

  • Empathy and concern for Duke’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
  • Humor alongside memes depicting hide and seek, but in a more ‘adult’ and jaded format.
  • Angry and appalled urging him to act more appropriately.

Shifting from the more aggregated emotion, the comments section is rife with ‘He’s Too Big for This’ and ‘He Should Have Left When Cops Asked’ sentiments.

Duke has not issued a formal statement. He is awaiting trial, and thus remains in custody.
