A New James Bond Game Is Coming – And It’s All About How It All Began
Watch the announcement trailer here-
So IO Interactive, the team behind the Hitman series, just revealed something big — their new James Bond game called 007: First Light. And from the look of the trailer and early details, this isn’t just another spy shooter. It’s actually going to explore Bond’s origin story, like how he became 007 in the first place. The game’s set to drop sometime in 2026, and it’ll be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and yes, even the Nintendo Switch 2. If you’re a Bond fan, this is definitely one to watch.
It’s a Young Bond – And Not the One You Know From the Movies
What’s cool is that this isn’t based on any specific movie or book. The story is completely original. You’ll be playing as a younger James Bond, just 26 years old, who’s still serving in the Royal Navy. One thing leads to another — a heroic act, from what we’ve heard — and he’s recruited into MI6’s Double-0 program. That’s when his life changes. You get to follow the journey from being just a soldier to becoming the James Bond. It feels more personal, more raw — like you're watching (or playing) the making of a legend.
Hitman Vibes but Bigger and More Cinematic
Since IO Interactive is behind this, it makes sense the gameplay will have that stealth-action vibe, kind of like Hitman, but with more style and story. You’ll be able to go about missions in different ways — sneak in quietly, use charm to gather intel, or go loud if things go wrong. The game promises a mix of exotic locations — from icy mountains to coastal towns. You’ll also meet familiar characters like M, Q, and Moneypenny, along with some new faces like Bond’s mentor, John Greenway. Honestly, it sounds like they’re building a whole new Bond universe here.
Fans Are Hyped – and We’re Still Just Getting Started
Even though the release is still over a year away, the announcement has definitely stirred up a lot of excitement. This is the first real James Bond game in more than ten years, and fans have been asking for something like this for a while now. IO Interactive is planning to share more during Summer Game Fest 2025, so we’ll likely get more gameplay or story info soon. For now, you can wishlist the game and sign up for IOI’s account system to get some in-game goodies once it launches. It’s early days, but it already feels like this could be a big one.
