Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg appeared at the Meta Connect 2025 event in California on September 17, 2025, to present the most advanced version of smart glasses by the company so far. The new digital eyewear called the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, combines the classic style of Ray-Ban frames with a built-in screen, as well as an AI-powered control system that can perform various functions.
Zuckerberg mentioned the purpose of the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses is to "create technology that feels almost like a natural part of everyday life,” allowing people to get information or stay connected without feeling like they are looking down at their phone all the time.
Meta Ray-Ban AI-Powered Glasses Get a Tiny Built-In Screen
The updated eyewear maintains the recognizable Ray-Ban style while concealing a bright, small display in the right lens. The display can present directions, text messages, video calls, or notifications from apps directly in the user's field of view.
The display is readable in direct sunlight, allowing users to view maps or messages while walking or driving without taking their phones out of their pockets. Zuckerberg said this is another step towards usable augmented reality.
How Meta’s Neural Wristband Lets You Control Glasses with Simple Gestures
Meta also showcased a neural wristband that reads tiny electrical signals from the muscles in your hand and fingers. The wristband lets you control the glasses through subtle gestures, such as a pinch or a swipe, without touching the frames or using voice.
Zuckerberg demonstrated whispering to a device with a finger flick that answered a call or opened an app, calling it “the most natural way to interact with technology.”
Price, Colors & Launch Date
In the U.S., Meta will bundle the Ray-Ban Display glasses with the neural wristband for a price of $799. Pre-orders are currently available, and the first shipment will be delivered on September 30, 2025.
Early 2026 will also see a broader release to countries including Canada, the UK, and some countries in Europe. Consumers will have the option of classic black, or a lighter sand color.
All About Battery Life and Features in Meta Ray-Ban AI-Powered Glasses
These glasses can function for approximately six hours of use between charging. The carrying case acts as a charger, providing over 30 more hours of power.
Other important highlights include:
- High-quality speakers to enjoy phone calls and music.
- Dual cameras for photos and short videos.
- Privacy lights and privacy settings to make sure recording is visible and controlled.
How This Model Improves on Older Meta Glasses
Previously, Meta's Ray-Ban glasses included cameras and audio without a screen. The new Display model comes with a waveguide display that places information right in front of the eyes, while keeping the wearability as light as regular sunglasses.
Zuckerberg referred to it as "a bridge between today's smartphones and the future of full augmented reality."
How You Can Use Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses Every Day
There are several benefits which these glasses could provide in many, every day, situations:
- For Navigation purposes: See turn-by-turn directions, while walking or driving to your destination.
- For instant translation: See on-screen captions or translations during an ongoing conversation or meeting.
- For quick updates: Glance at the message, weather, or sports score notifications, without having to look down at your phone.
For the traveler, or student, or busy worker, this might be less time looking at a screen; and more time paying attention to your environment.

Privacy Controls and First Reactions
With any device that has cameras, displays, there is a major question around privacy. Zuckerberg stressed that there are visible indicators of recording by the glasses, and privacy is represented with controls.
The first batch of testers noted the light and quick to respond wristband, even though the smart display has limited field of view, and some uses of the AI features depend on strong internet access. Meta will be implementing regular updates to build in everyday tools, such as real-time object recognition and health monitors.

Why Meta Smart Glasses Launch Excites Users
The Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses represent a new example of how technology develops closer to the realm of everyday use. By combining AI, gesture control and a hidden display, built in a design we already know, Meta advances toward a more integrated future, where the experience of receiving digital information feels easier and more natural.
As Zuckerberg mentioned in the launch announcement, "This is just another step toward making augmented reality something you can use everyday." When they eventually are released to the public, we will see if the outdoor sightings are more common than not, based on how useful, comfortable, and a overall pleasant the experience is while balancing ideals of privacy.
