If you’ve been watching the Indian SUV space, here’s exciting news — Mahindra is gearing up to launch a facelifted version of its blockbuster SUV Mahindra XUV700. The updated model is expected to arrive in early 2026, possibly under a fresh name: Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Exterior: Sharper Look, Familiar Body

Don’t expect a completely new body design — the facelift appears to retain the same overall shape, bonnet, and door layout. But that doesn’t mean it won’t feel fresh. The changes begin with a redesigned grille featuring larger air inlets, giving the SUV a more aggressive and aerodynamic face.

Up front, the headlamps are now “dual-pod” LED projectors — a more modern look with sharper LED DRLs. Bumpers (both front and rear) have been reworked for a bolder stance, and the alloy wheels are new, with aero-inspired styling. Tail-lamps at the back are likely to have a connected lighting signature, enhancing the overall road presence during night driving.

Interior & Tech: Triple Screens, Premium Vibes

This facelift isn’t just skin-deep. The biggest changes are inside the cabin, where XUV 7XO borrows cues from Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUVs. The highlight: a triple-screen dashboard layout with three 12.3-inch displays — one each for the instrument cluster, infotainment, and front passenger convenience screen. This gives the cabin a futuristic, high-tech feel.

The dashboard sees upgraded materials, with twin-tone dual-tone leatherette wrap (brown + black) and chrome highlights on AC vents, giving the cabin a more premium atmosphere. The steering wheel gets a fresh two-spoke design with the illuminated Mahindra “Twin Peaks” logo for that premium touch.

Under the Hood: Same Muscles, No Surprises

Mechanically, not much is changing — and that’s a good thing for those who already love XUV700’s performance. The facelifted version continues with the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre turbo diesel engines. Transmission options (6-speed manual or 6-speed torque-converter automatic) remain the same too. Diesel-automatic variants will likely retain the all-wheel-drive (AWD) option.

Performance numbers remain roughly similar: petrol engine with ~200 PS & 380 Nm torque; diesel delivering around 185 PS with torque varying depending on gearbox and drivetrain (reports mention 420–450 Nm).

Final Thoughts

If you’re in the market for a powerful, 7-seater SUV and don’t mind waiting a bit — the facelifted XUV 7XO seems like a smart move. It keeps everything that made the XUV700 popular — strong engines, spacious cabin, AWD option — but spruces up the overall experience with modern tech, refreshed looks, and premium feel.

FAQ

Yes — rumours suggest it will be rebadged as Mahindra XUV 7XO, following Mahindra's updated naming pattern used earlier for models like XUV 3XO.

The facelift is expected to arrive in early 2026, most likely January.

The updates include a redesigned front grille, dual-pod LED headlamps with new DRLs, refreshed bumpers, new alloy wheels, and a reworked tail-lamp signature — all giving a more premium, aggressive look.

No. The facelift retains the same 2.0 L turbo-petrol and 2.2 L turbo-diesel engines, with existing 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. AWD remains optional on diesel-automatic variants.

Inside you get a big upgrade: a triple-screen dashboard (instrument cluster + infotainment + front passenger screen), revamped dashboard and steering wheel, premium materials, improved lighting, and possibly a Harman Kardon audio system

Seating layouts (6-seater and 7-seater) remain the same. Comfort features like ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone AC, wireless connectivity, ambient lighting, and more are expected to stay, if not improve.

Not a big jump — since mechanicals remain the same, the facelift is expected to come with “slight premium” over the current XUV700.

After update, XUV 7XO is likely to go head-to-head with midsize large SUVs like Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and similar rival 7-seaters.
