Peugeot is giving design changes to their electric wagon, the E-308 SW just in time for 2026. If you are someone who values a practical car with a quirky twist, watch this space. The new facelift will simply upgrade the aesthetics with new headlights and bumpers, while leaving the same electric drive train in place! And yes, the current gas and hybrid 308's will also get the new facelift which makes the whole range feel new again.

This refresh won't change the narrative, but polish it certainly will.

Design Updates That Actually Matter

Peugeot is not changing so much to go wild this is just a facelift, however, should still be noticeable:

  • Sharper LED Headlights: The new LED headlights bring a slimmer light signature which seems to be based on more recent SUVs from the brand.
  • Refreshed Front & Rear Bumpers: Expect a more athletic, confident appearance with the front and rear bumpers refreshed - while absolutely not losing everyday practicality.
  • Refined Grille Design: Peugeot is lessening the front grille on styling and going for a plainly obvious clean, modern faceless design - even among the EV representation.

These changes seem subtle however when it comes time to step into the traffic we think this will add serious presence to the E-308 SW while adding a premium feel without paranoia.

Still Useful, Still Electric, Still Makes Sense

Let's have a discussion about the performance and practicality of this EV. Because that is what this EV is all about.

  • Same 54 kWh Battery: The tried and true battery provides about 250 miles (WLTP) of range.
  • 154 hp Front-Wheel Drive: Quiet, smooth, and good for city or suburban settings.
  • All sorts of cargo space: with the rear seats down you can fit everything for your road trip, bring home items from Ikea, or a dog toy collection.

No, you will not win any drag races, but that is not the reason you buy this vehicle. This vehicle is about smart and efficient mobility for families or individual drivers who prefer wagons instead of SUV's.

It's Not Just an EV Thing

The interesting thing is that this new styling is not just for the electric version:

  • The gas, diesel, and plug-in hybrid models of the Peugeot 308 will also receive this facelift.
  • This is nice because it keeps the entire family styling aligned visually for new buyers who are not ready to switch to Electric yet.

Peugeot ensures that no buyer feels left out, regardless if you are an EV or traditional fuel buyer.

Could Peugeot Make a Comeback in the U.S.?

Now the big question is, will it ever come to the US?

Peugeot hasn't sold cars in the US in decades, but the E-308 SW is one of the few types of cars a small proportion of American buyers crave:

  • Stylish, but understated
  • Environmentally conscious
  • Wagon over crossover bulk

There is no official word yet, but if Stellantis (Peugeot's parent) and decides to dip its toe in U.S. waters again here then this could be the car that starts it.

Conclusion

The 2026 Peugeot E-308 SW facelift may not be a completely different model, but it does offer some design appeal and refinement to keep it somewhat current and relevant. It offers stylish electric car options in a crossover world for buyers in Europe. It is also another reminder of the kinds of diverse options we are missing here in the U.S. as enthusiasts and wagon short-changers with a longing for more wagons to choose from. It is not clear if Peugeot will return to the states, but example models like this should remind everyone they still play on the global competitiveness stage.

If you like smart sensible EVs with European flavour, keep putting this one on your watch list.
