The popular XUV700 is returning — but with a twist. Instead of just calling it a facelift, Mahindra has given it a brand-new name: XUV 7XO. The SUV is all set to make its official debut on January 5, 2026, when the company is expected to also unveil its price. The name change aligns with Mahindra’s broader naming convention, similar to how the XUV300 got rebadged as XUV 3XO after its update.

Sleek new design — exterior gets sharper looks

On the outside, the XUV 7XO seems to have undergone a noticeable design overhaul intended to catch more attention on Indian roads. Up front, expect a new blacked-out grille with silver or vertical slats, giving a bolder, more aggressive face to the SUV — a pretty different vibe from the old XUV700.

The headlamp setup has also been reimagined. The facelift reportedly gets dual-pod LED projector headlamps with U-shaped LED DRLs, akin to the newer SUVs in Mahindra’s lineup. On the sides, there will be fresh alloy wheels and possibly redesigned bumpers — giving a sportier, more premium feel to the silhouette.

Inside the cabin — tech-rich, family-friendly and comfy

Mahindra seems to have taken a big leap in making the cabin of XUV 7XO more premium and tech-forward. The major highlight: a triple-screen setup — one for the instrument cluster, one central touchscreen, and another possibly for co-passenger/entertainment or additional controls. This layout mirrors what we’ve seen on newer Mahindra EVs, giving the 7XO a modern, SUV-of-the-future feel.

Under the hood — familiar engines, same trusted performance

Don’t expect a change in the driving experience — the 7XO will carry forward the same powertrain options as the XUV700. That means you’ll still get a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. Both engines get a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Diesel automatic versions may continue to offer all-wheel drive (AWD).
