The Maruti e Vitara marks a milestone — it’s the first fully electric SUV from Maruti Suzuki for India. After teasing the idea for a while, the company is rolling out something that could shake up the Indian EV-SUV market. Rather than just adding another petrol/diesel car, e Vitara represents a serious push into EV space, with features and specs that make it more than just a “first try.” For buyers wanting an easy transition to electric without compromising on comfort, range or safety — this may just be the one they are waiting for.

Power, Battery & Real-world Range

The e Vitara offers two battery options: a 49 kWh pack for the base version (good for daily use), and a beefier 61 kWh pack for those who want more range or performance. With the larger battery, Maruti claims an ARAI-certified range of up to 543 km — that’s among the highest in its segment in India right now. Also, the company is buttressing the EV launch with a charging network: over 2,000 chargers already active across 1,100+ cities, and a bold long-term plan to set up 100,000 chargers nationwide by 2030.

Looks, Feel & Interior Comfort

Design-wise, the e Vitara doesn’t compromise. It comes with a modern, slightly aggressive look — Y-shaped LED DRLs, projector LED headlamps, blanked-off grille (typical for EVs), and 18-inch aero alloy wheels.nside, the cabin gets a dual-tone finish along with a dual-display setup — a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There’s more: features like wireless phone charging, a glass roof, electrically adjustable driver seat, ambient lighting, and a comfy centre console make it feel more premium than the typical “budget” EVs.

Safety & Smart Features — Built for India

Safety seems to be a big priority with e Vitara. The SUV comes with 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, tyre-pressure monitoring (TPMS), electronic parking brake, parking sensors, and more.  On top of all that, it has Level-2 ADAS — think lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, emergency braking — the kind of features we often see in higher-end cars. And yes — it recently earned a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP crash tests, which is a first for a Maruti and adds a lot of confidence for Indian buyers.

Price, Availability & What It Competes With

Maruti hasn’t fixed a final on-road price yet, but estimates suggest e Vitara could come in the ₹18–25 lakh (ex-showroom) range depending on the variant and battery pack. The catch: bookings have not begun yet, and deliveries are expected to start from January 2026. As for rivals, e Vitara is expected to go head-to-head with the likes of Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV — all mid-size electric SUVs targeting the same buyers.

Final Thoughts

If you’re in the market for an electric SUV that’s practical for Indian roads, offers strong range, modern comfort, and comes from a trusted brand — e Vitara is shaping up to be a very strong contender. Especially if Maruti prices it right and the charging infrastructure improves as planned, it might just become one of the most sensible “first EV” options for many families or city-users across India.
