Mother Breaks Silence on Nandini CM Suicide
G R Basavarajeshwari, the mother of Nandini, who is a teacher by profession, was at the police station at 8 am along with her family. When she arrived, she told the police officers, "This was my daughter's choice, and not a result of anybody forcing her into it. She made this decision because of the arguments we had at home". She looked at the police officers with sadness as she stated this.
Nandini is from Kotturu which is located in Vijayanagara district. S Mahabaleshwar, who is also a teacher, was her father, and he passed away in 2021. Nandini was the oldest child and had to bear the burden of her family’s expectations of her career path. Her mother said that they never intended to hurt or destroy her, but simply wanted to protect her from the highs and lows of the entertainment industry.
Nandini’s final letter that she wrote to her mother included a plea for her to understand Nandini’s passion for acting. The letter was written in Kannada and stated, "I do not want to work in the government. I do not have anyone to listen to my dreams or support my passions". Both the letter and diary entries illustrated how she had been struggling internally for several months.

Family Pressure: Marriage and Job Clash Exposed
What could possibly have prompted the decision to work towards getting married and being recognized as successful professionally? There are conflicting reports on whether or not she received enough support at home to go through with this decision and/or to obtain a "steady job" with the government. Although, after Nandini's father passed away, he was able to get a "steady" job with the government, which is given to the family of employees of the government in India as a form of assistance. As per Nandini, she felt that her "inner voice" was telling her to pursue the spotlight, which is contrary to her family's wishes.
Nandini's mother confirmed to law enforcement that the tension escalated as follow: "She was torn between what we wanted and what her heart wanted." According to people who know the situation, family pressures and extra pressure to marry early from small-town Indian families also played a major role in Nandini's feeling of being torn between her talent and family expectations.
The entries in her diary (written by Nandini) reveal that her family wanted her to come back home and have "a stable life," but being an actress was Nandini's passion. This is a story that many artists can relate to; every artist has had, at some point in his/her career, to make a choice between what he/she is passionate about and what society expects him/her to do.

Rise of Kannada TV Star Nandini CM
Nandini is from Ballari and graduated from Pre-University in 2018. She left Ballari to study engineering at RR Institute of Technology in Bengaluru, but dropped out soon after. An acting class in Raj Rajeshwari Nagar was what really got her started in acting.
She started with small roles and suddenly had a huge hit with 'Jeeva Hoovagide', which really helped put her on the map. She was next featured in 'Sangharsha', then 'Madhumagalu', and lastly, 'Neenade Naa'. Each of these films increased her popularity among Kannada audiences.
Tamil audiences have also embraced her most recent movie, 'Gowri', where she plays Kanaka and Durga — both sides of a strong character. Ironically, her character ingested poison on screen just days before the actress herself did the same in real life. Police are treating it as purely coincidental and say there is no connection.
