On October 1st, 2024, at his residence in Juhu, Mumbai, Govinda sustained a shocking and serious injury. Early in the morning at approximately 4:30 a.m., while Govinda was cleaning his registered revolver, he accidentally dropped it and as it fell, the weapon discharged, resulting in a bullet striking Govinda just below his right knee. He was subsequently transported immediately to CritiCare Asia Hospital, located in Andheri West.
Following his arrival at the hospital, Govinda received prompt medical treatment, as he was placed under medical supervision for an extended period of time while he underwent various follow-up medical procedures. During an interview with reporters, Govinda claimed that this incident occurred as a result of a complete and total accident, and there were no individuals present during the time of the incident. As a result, shortly after the incident occurred, the Mumbai Police responded quickly by sending police teams to his residence and to CritiCare Asia Hospital to investigate the circumstances surrounding Govinda's injury.
The Mumbai Crime Branch also sent investigators to investigate the incident and speak to Govinda in person. Investigators conducted an examination of the Webley revolver Govinda possessed, and also evaluated the location of the incident, and they concluded that no other individuals were involved in the incident, however, subsequent reports of possible deception continue to arise from several additional witnesses.

Police Probe Clears Govinda Shooting Rumors
With a total of 200 policemen stationed at the hospital and another 50 at his house, Ragini could not comprehend how someone could slip away with that level of monitoring. "How could anyone get away from so many officers watching them?" she stated. The Mumbai police conducted thorough checks on both hospitals and determined that nothing suspicious occurred.
Daya Nayak, head of Crime Branch, spoke with the hospitals and conducted testing on the weapon and location where Govinda was shot, corroborating Govinda's version of events. There are no outstanding reports of wrong-doing, and all the evidence gathered from the investigation point to an accidental shooting.
Although there were some conflicting reports regarding the actions of the police before the investigation confirmed the validity of Govinda's statements, Ragini expresses her complete confidence in the police, stating, "I believe in their ability 100%, their investigation is legit."

Govinda Gun Case Official Findings
Police ruled it an unfortunate accident resulting from Govinda's use of his licensed Webley revolver at his home in Juhuh. Additional verification backs the police’s determination regarding this case.
At approximately 4:45 am, Govinda put his gun down while alone at home, causing it to fire off a round into his left leg just below the knee. There were no witnesses; therefore, no one we could consider an outsider to him at that hour of the morning.
Police took the statement from him following his surgery on his left leg at CritiCare Hospital. The police were able to corroborate the information they received during their investigation with that provided to them by his family, including Tina Ahuja, his daughter. A Crime Branch investigation was conducted by Inspector Daya Nayak in his hospital room. He was able to match the gun used in this incident with the one owned and used by Govinda. There were no further questions from him or any evidence of foul play that would lead to charges being laid against him.
