Actress Patricia Heaton has sounded the alarm to Americans that potential for another 9/11 exists if we do not address growing antisemitism and radical Islam. Heaton spoke about those concerns in advance of the two-year anniversary of October 7, 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel..

The Growing Threat of Antisemitism and Radical Islam

In an interview with civil rights attorney Brooke Goldstein, Heaton said the threat of antisemitism and radical Islam is rising. Goldstein said that the American public has been slow to recognize the radicalization of people in their own communities, particularly radicalization that is theologically motivated to support actions of violence, which Goldstein sees as a national security threat. Goldstein said the tendency for the public to be unwilling to share criticism of radical Islam as Islamophobic in the post-9/11 world makes honest conversation about it difficult.

Heaton's Call for Vigilance and Action

Heaton went on to lament that the world showed demonstrable support for the people who killed over 1,500 others in Israel on October 7, and stated she was discouraged that many Americans, including religious organizations, had not spoken out about condemning the actions of killing others in response to diplomatic discussions. Heaton stated that she founded the October 7th Coalition to encourage serious response to the rise of antisemitism or radical Islam, and to help connect Christians who want to encourage their own action in support of Jewish people.

The Role of Christians in Combating Antisemitism

Heaton stressed that Christians should stand up for the Jewish community not just for the sake of the Jewish community, but because attacks on the Jewish community are attacks on all Judeo-Christian communities. She appealed to American Christians to push back against antisemitism and to support Israel, warning that if they do not take action, they will face dire consequences.
