When Connor Shaw began his time as a student-athlete at the University of South Carolina (USC), there was a promise, but nobody thought he would accomplish what he did.

Historically Great Quarterback: Shaw eventually became the all-time winningest quarterback at USC, as of today.

Steve Spurrier's Field General: Shaw flourished with the legendary coach; at times Shaw showed a maturity that belied his age.

When Shaw completed his college football career he would be a standard for excellence in South Carolina football, not just a quarter back.

Brief NFL Stint

Following his time at USC, Shaw joined the NFL. Although he did not get picked in the early rounds of the draft, he signed a free-agent contract and made his way to the Cleveland Browns.

NFL Debut: Shaw started for the Browns in 2014, and had some memorable moments that led fans to recall his time at USC.

Injuries & Challenges: Shaw had trouble to further a career of opportunities and prevented from becoming entrenched as an NFL QB, as many other players have for the last number of years.

Career Shift: After a few years being on or off rosters and practice squads, Shaw eventually walked away from the game.

In a short stint playing professionally, Shaw showed families that the road from college star to NFL quarterback is never a given -- but Shaw did it with class.
