Eid Mubarak: Kuwait Celebrates Peace and Prosperity
This year's Eid al-Adha celebrations in Kuwait were filled with warmth and goodwill, marked by a flurry of greetings and well wishes exchanged between the nation's leadership and its people, as well as international dignitaries. It truly felt like a time of togetherness and shared joy.
Greetings from the Amir and Crown Prince
The Amiri Diwan officially relayed Eid Al-Adha greetings from His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to all Kuwaiti citizens and residents. The message wished everyone a happy Eid filled with peace, security, and safety. It was incredibly touching to see this message of unity and hope, especially given the global uncertainties we face.
The Amir also received messages of congratulations from His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, among many other high-ranking officials. The Crown Prince's message, in particular, highlighted his pride in the nation and his hope for continued progress under the Amir's leadership. This kind of mutual respect and admiration between leaders set a positive tone for the entire holiday.
International Congratulations Pour In
What really stood out to me were the heartfelt messages from various ambassadors and diplomats accredited to Kuwait. The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Zubaydullah Zubaydov of Tajikistan, spoke on behalf of the entire diplomatic community, expressing their best wishes and emphasizing the strong bonds between their countries and Kuwait. It was a powerful display of international solidarity.
Ambassadors from the European Union, France, Ukraine, and Mexico, among others, also extended their warmest congratulations, highlighting the shared values of Eid al-Adha—tolerance, compassion, and human connection—and reiterating the importance of fostering stronger bilateral relationships.
- Ambassador Anne Koistinen (EU): Emphasized charity and human connection.
- Ambassador Olivier Gauvin (France): Highlighted Kuwait's generous culture and hospitality.
- Ambassador Eduardo Peña Haller (Mexico): Focused on generosity, unity, and peace.
I found these messages particularly moving. They weren't just formal statements; they were genuine expressions of friendship and respect between nations.
Phone Calls from Regional Leaders
The Amir also received congratulatory calls from several regional leaders, including King Hamad bin Issa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. These conversations further solidified the spirit of unity and goodwill that permeated the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
A Time for Reflection and Unity
Beyond the official greetings, Eid al-Adha in Kuwait, and indeed across the world, provided a powerful moment for reflection on the values of sacrifice, compassion, and community. It’s a time for families to come together, for acts of charity, and for renewed commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous future. And from the messages I've seen, it was definitely felt by many.
Eid Mubarak to all!
