Early on Saturday morning, something pretty serious went down on De Montfort Street in Leicester. A car hit a group of pedestrians — four people ended up hurt, and three of them badly enough to be taken to hospital. It’s hard to imagine what that must have felt like for those involved. Emergency crews got there quickly and took care of the injured. The whole thing has left a lot of people shaken up.

Police didn’t waste any time. They arrested a 31-year-old man connected to the crash. He’s being held on suspicion of causing serious injury and dangerous driving. From what the police said, it looks like the driver and the people who got hurt were at a private event nearby earlier that night. There was also a fight reported before the crash, so they’re trying to figure out if that led to the car hitting the pedestrians. The car itself was found a short distance away and is now with the police for checks.
What Comes Next?
Detective Inspector Jenny Tattersall spoke to the public and said she understands people are worried — which makes total sense. She asked everyone to hold off on spreading rumors, especially on social media, so the investigation can go smoothly. Right now, a big cordon is still up around the area as police continue their work. They also want anyone who saw what happened to come forward and share info, to help piece things together. It’s clear this is still an ongoing investigation, and no one has all the answers yet.
