Queen Máxima of the Netherlands generated a lot of media attention during the pre-dinner event for world leaders ahead of the NATO Summit in 2025. This took place on June 24 at the Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague where Queen Máxima along with King Willem-Alexander welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump and other international delegates to a formal dinner.

Queen Máxima was recognized by her unique outfit which was a bright lime green colored jumpsuit designed by the Belgian label Natan. The jumpsuit featured trousers that were wide at the leg, along with short, roomy sleeves that looked almost like a fancy cape. She also had heels that matched the jumpsuit. The bright lime green color definitely helped her and her outfit stand out at the event where most other guests wore more traditional tones of color.

The dinner was a symbolic act of diplomacy and unity, which was appropriate because NATO has key allies coming together to discuss global security issues at the upcoming summit together. Also, this would be the first time a U.S. President had slept overnight at Huis ten Bosch Palace in it's history.

Princess Catharina-Amalia, heir to the Dutch throne, was also present with her parents at the royal event. The last public sighting of the princess had her wearing a sling from a minor injury, but she appeared fully recovered, and comfortably engaged in the formal setting.

This rare combination of formal diplomacy and personal presence from the Dutch royal family provided a nice open, welcoming tone for the forthcoming summit.

A Moment of Diplomacy, Fashion, and Family in Attendance

The dinner was much more than a formal event; it was a mix of protocol, diplomacy, and human warmth. The much-publicized outfit worn by Queen Maxima had both an eye-catching color and design--but also meaning. Lime green has meanings associated with renewal and growth--a fitting message at a time when international collaboration feels important.

Her choice of color could have been deliberate: a break in the usual tradition of dull colors at political summits. Many noted that it made the evening much more light - hearted, and less formal.

Crown Princess Amalia's presence became even more noteworthy, especially since President Donald Trump was also attending. Amalia's first official foreign public event after which she will probably had many more in the future as a full-time working royal. It was also a particularly significant moment as well since she had recently been been in an accident while riding and, thankfully she looked like she is back to being her best self.

The dinner which was not public, highlighted Queen Máxima hosted/ mingled with world leaders and had positive expressions, and the family was together which represents the dutch role of nice hosts and a NATO member.

With a NATO summit continuing, the presence of the Dutch royal family helped to personalize, the opening dinner, beyond otherwise serious high-level international meeting.
