Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi sparked a political row in the Lok Sabha after referring to IIT Madras Director Prof. V. Kamakoti as a “gaumutra expert” while questioning his inclusion in the Centre’s high-level task force on examination reforms, citing his past remarks on cow urine. BJP MP Anurag Thakur condemned the remark, calling it an insult to one of India’s leading scientists and accusing the Congress of disparaging the country’s academic community. V. Kamakoti is the Director of IIT Madras, former JEE chairman, leader of the indigenous SHAKTI microprocessor project, National Security Advisory Board member and a Padma Shri awardee. What else?

Rahul Gandhi has demanded Amit Shah’s resignation!

Rahul Gandhi demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying, "Amit Shah must go." He argued that "If he didn't give the order, he didn't know, so he's incompetent. If he did give the order, he's culpable. Either way, he must go." Gandhi also questioned, "Did Amit Shah order the use of pellet guns, or did he not know they were being used?" Calling for accountability, he asserted that "I am not going to let him get away with this," and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored investigation, saying students deserved justice and those responsible must be held accountable. How did the BJP respond?

Records and established policing procedures indicate that operational decisions on police action are taken by the officer commanding the force on the ground, not through direct political orders. The BJP cited this to reject Rahul Gandhi's allegation that Union Home Minister Amit Shah ordered action against student protesters. The party accused Gandhi of spreading misinformation and making baseless claims, insisting there was no police firing and that only tear gas was used. Calling his remarks misleading and factually incorrect, BJP leaders demanded that Gandhi either produce evidence supporting his allegations or issue an unconditional public apology. What else?

Lok Sabha has passed the Anti-Paper Leak bill!

The Lok Sabha passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 by voice vote after a contentious debate. The Opposition initially opposed the Bill's introduction, arguing that tougher penalties alone would not stop recurring paper leaks without addressing systemic failures and fixing accountability within examination bodies. The government maintained that stronger legal provisions were necessary to deter organised exam fraud. The Bill raises punishment for individuals involved in unfair means to 5–10 years' imprisonment and fines up to ₹50 lakh, while organised crime related to paper leaks can attract 7–10 years' imprisonment and fines up to ₹10 crore. It also provides for fast-track courts, completion of investigations within two months, trials within three months, and empowers the Centre to constitute a Special Task Force for investigations. What else?

A war of words has erupted in the CJP and government!

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has renewed Rahul Gandhi’s demand for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation over the alleged police crackdown on student protesters, intensifying pressure on the Centre. Meanwhile, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut sharply attacked CJP leaders, describing the protest videos as “puke-inducing” and saying, “Never in my life have I seen so much ugliness in one place,” while branding sections of Gen Z as “Generation Gutter.” Separately, former CJP member Meghnad criticised the party after videos of leaders celebrating went viral, alleging they were partying while volunteers and protesters struggled without food or travel support, triggering fresh outrage and internal criticism. What else?

Stop targeting students or face another protest: CJP!!

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has urged the government to immediately halt the alleged targeting of students, warning that any continued crackdown on protesters could spark another nationwide peaceful movement. Founder Abhijeet Dipke said students must not be criminalised for exercising their democratic rights and expressed concern that recent legal developments may undermine earlier assurances to withdraw cases against protesters. CJP insisted that the government must honour its commitments and ensure students are protected from further harassment. The party warned that if such actions continue, people will once again take to the streets, calling the continued targeting of students both shocking and deeply concerning.

The latest Unstop Talent Report 2026, which gathered inputs from 500+ HR leaders and almost 40,000 students, revealed a brutal story:-

• 84% undergraduate students remained unplaced.
• 17% undergraduate students faced delayed offers or had their offers rescinded.
• While 60% undergraduate students expected packages of Rs 9 LPA or more, only 14% actually got it!
• 30% MBAs earned below Rs 10 LPA.
• 39% MBAs earned below Rs 7 LPA.

Interestingly, this finding is even though 88% companies are actively hiring while 90% have maintained or increased their hiring budgets!

So, companies want to hire but aren’t hiring??

According to Ankit Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Unstop, the decline in salaries is not a crash, but a “structural correction”. He claims that degrees were once considered a sign of potential, but companies are done paying for potential, as they want to pay for ‘Day One’ contribution.

Companies are done paying for candidates with high CGPAs or college tags, as they now want proof of capability. In fact, 94% employers are said to have reportedly moved away from the pedigree-based hiring and are now moving to a skill-based hiring as those are the basis for determining salary packages.

So what to do?

The only answer is to upskill. The time to stay relaxed and reliant on your degree is over, as HRs are hiring based purely on skill instead of great grades. In terms of engineering, candidates need to upskill by learning skills for Data Analysis or Full Stack Development. For MBAs with an interest in helping companies, they must practically learn Management Consulting and Product Management skills. Finally, finance specialists must learn Financial Modelling to target jobs like those of an Investment Banker or Investment Analyst.
