Hello Readers,

Did you hear?

Students are still protesting in Jharkhand!

Jharkhand’s student protests have intensified over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Students allege paper leaks, unfair evaluation, discrepancies in results and a lack of transparency, demanding cancellation of tainted examinations, an independent or CBI probe and reforms to the recruitment system. The movement has grown from a local demonstration into a large mobilisation involving thousands of aspirants, with hunger strikes adding pressure. Protesters have also demanded accountability from the state government and direct dialogue with Chief Minister Hemant Soren. What else?

A student with 299.175/300 was rejected!!

Reports from Jharkhand have alleged the case of a candidate who reportedly scored 299.175 out of 300 marks—around 99.7%—in the Post Graduate Trained Teacher recruitment examination but was nevertheless left out of the selection list. The case has triggered strong reactions online and renewed scrutiny of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s recruitment process. Questions have been raised over merit, normalization and eligibility criteria, with many calling for greater transparency and an explanation for the rejection. Earlier legal proceedings have also highlighted concerns over answer-key errors and technical issues affecting candidates’ scores. What else?

CJP will support student protests!

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has pledged support for Jharkhand students protesting alleged irregularities in JPSC and other recruitment examinations. Founder Abhijeet Dipke said CJP members would travel to Ranchi to back job aspirants staging an indefinite protest and demanding an independent probe by retired High Court judges from outside the state. “We will definitely go to Jharkhand, we will stand with them and support their every demand in the agitation,” Dipke said. He also described CJP as a “pressure group” focused on institutional accountability, rather than a political party. What else?

RSS supports Gen-Z, calls it a way of dialogue!

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has backed Gen Z, saying young people’s concerns should not be dismissed and protesters should not be labelled anti-national. Speaking at a Mumbai gathering of Gen Z and Gen Alpha, Bhagwat described protests as a legitimate form of dialogue, especially when grievances remain unheard. He said demonstrations should aim to find solutions, build consensus and correct systemic problems rather than target individuals or deepen social divisions. Bhagwat also praised younger generations as questioning, honest and eager for logical answers, highlighting the importance of engaging youth in democratic debate and civic participation. What else?

Congress has broken its silence on Jharkhand protests!

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have finally broken their silence and backed Jharkhand students' protests. Gandhi said, “Every government, be it the Central government, Jharkhand government or a Congress government, should listen to what students are saying,” calling India’s education system “collapsed,” “unaffordable and oppressive.” Supporting him, Kharge said, “Rahul Gandhi and we are with the students, be it in Jharkhand, Punjab, Delhi or anywhere else.” Kharge added that Congress would ask whether mistakes had been made and “why it has happened,” while continuing to engage with the government over students’ concerns. An 11-person team of students will hold talks with the government!

Jharkhand’s protesting students have formed an 11-member delegation to hold talks with the state government over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. The team includes student representatives, an advocate and technical experts, who will present their key demands before the government. Their talking points include cancellation of the 14th JPSC preliminary examination, a CBI probe into alleged irregularities, action against those responsible and comprehensive reforms to ensure transparent and fair recruitment. The delegation’s formation signals an attempt to resolve the standoff through dialogue, even as the students’ protest continues growing.

Speaking of growing, have you heard about the growing demand for HRs!?

Foundit Insight Tracker’s Annual Hiring Trends report for 2025 showed that HR & Admin hiring grew 33% YoY in 2025, far outpacing the overall hiring increase of 23% in India! Moreover, hiring in said corporate function was the second highest, greatly surpassing functions like IT, Finance & Accounting, and Sales & Business Development!

Furthermore, the trend is still accelerating as the same tracker reported continued job creation in this role in the first half of 2026 across most Indian metro cities!

In addition to the growing number of HR jobs, India will be creating more jobs this year!

TeamLease’s Employment Outlook report has seen an upward revision as the firm expects 10-12 million new jobs being created in India this year, 20% higher than last year’s figures. Combining that with its +4.7% net employment change forecast for H1FY27, India Inc. is expected to expand its workforce substantially.

How does a company hire more people? Through competent HRs!

As the number of jobs increase, the number of HRs needed to find, filter, process, and manage capable candidates will increase too, making HR one of the most lucrative roles in the coming years!

But won’t AI render HRs useless?

Short answer: No.

AI will certainly disrupt the role, but it will bring about an evolution in the duties of an HR:-

  • While AI will focus on screening CVs and post job openings, HRs will be able to focus more on the interview and candidate experience.
  • Duties like onboarding, payroll, and leave queries would be resolved by AI, thus helping HRs focus more on employee experience and resolving conflict.
  • AI will focus on arranging surveys and collecting results, thus helping HRs focus on taking action on such insights.
  • HRs could rely on artificial intelligence tools to monitor performance and reduce paperwork, thus giving HRs time to set up coaching or guidance sessions through personalized, data-driven insights.
  • While AI can set up guidelines for employee behaviour and conduct, a human HR’s judgement will remain irreplaceable in the workforce.
